Preparation:
- steam for 5–7 minutes in a small amount of water in a frying pan.
 - Allow the water to boil away or pour it off. Then fry for 3–5 minutes. A bit of oil or butter can be added, if needed.
 - This short frying process will tenderize the natural casing and improve the flavor.
 - Pre-cooked sausage like bockwurst and kielbasa can also be grilled quite well (low fire, 5–8 minutes).
